Narelle Andren Power Living Australia Yoga Teachers Network

I was a very late comer to yoga. At 42, I was exhausted both mentally & physically, running two businesses and raising three awesome & energetic teenagers! Little wonder that yoga really spoke to me…I was actually in the process of training to be a pilates teacher, making the shift into a healthier life when my mentor asked if I would consider delivering yoga as well…(drumroll)…enter Power Living. Well everything shifted & I mean EVERYTHING! I sold my businesses, dropped pilates, embraced yoga – opened a tiny studio, made just enough money to pay the studio rent and began to re-build my life from the inside out! I am a healthier, happier 50 than I ever could have imagined at 40, in a solid working partnership with 2 thriving beachside studios.

I began my yoga 200hr teaching journey with Power Living, with an incredible bunch of yogis in 2012, continued with the Power Living 500hr pathway through the following years. I have also been blessed to sit at the feet of some wonderful teachers such as Maty Ezraty, Ana Forrest, Simon Park, Rod Stryker and Elena Brower… this world of yoga just keeps opening up.

My vinyasa classes are deceptively challenging, yet full of fun. I am in absolute awe of our bodies anatomy, how it moves & intrigued when it doesn’t. Oh and I love hands on adjustments.

My specialty is private and group alignment based practices for strength or rehabilitation

What is your favourite Asana posture? Why?

Adho much śvānāsana – Downward facing dog was the very first pose that got me questioning everything, oh my how it could trigger me and even now how much it can tell me…it is the pose that feels most like home, the chance to re-set.

What do you value most in others? Why?

Honesty to me is the most authentic form of being & I value this quality in others because it reminds me to do the same.

What has been your most inspirational/toughest learning experience?

Motherhood – ‘the longest days and the shortest years’
