def. Pranayama (noun): Prana = life force; ayama = extend/expand
Pranayama is literally learning how to extend our vital life force. In our busy lives, this energy, this prana, can be zapped and depleted. Pranayama breathing techniques will promote healing, prepare your body for a deeper asana practice and guide you into a steady meditation. Pranayama techniques are a bridge between yoga’s active practices – asana – and its inward-focussed practices – meditation.
In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to intentionally control your breath to move prana – life force – through the body to foster better functionality, create vitality in the body and clarity in the mind. We’ll move through a slow, juicy flow to open the body and end with a guided meditation to drop in and experience deeper layers of bliss and stillness.
A student at Power Living from the start, Elenni completed her first training in 2015 and joined the team in 2016. She loves how the ancient yogic texts can fit so well into modern life and how moving her body and her breath can tap into some really interesting sticky spots of the mind. She is passionate about exploring the subtle – yet powerful – energetic practices of yoga.
