Name: Leigh Roy Houghton
Role: Performance Coach and Senior Facilitator
Leighʼs yoga journey began as a way of bringing balance to his physical body after a knee injury in his youth. It was the first form of exercise that kept him interested beyond the “honeymoon” period and it wasn’t long before he realised that there was a lot more to yoga than just breathing and moving.
His first Power Living retreat in 2009 opening his eyes to the world and his place in it. He discovered a strong connection to the community he had been skating around the edge of and took the opportunity to dive right in. Retreats with Baron Baptiste and trainings with many international yoga teachers followed. He completed his Power Living teacher training in 2011 and promptly gave up his hospitality career for service in the yoga world.

Share with us a life turning point and the favourite lesson learnt?
A service trip to Nairobi, Kenya with the Africa Yoga Project for 2 weeks in 2012 literally turned my life around. I saw the powerful impact practicing and teaching yoga was having on the lives of so many people and it strengthened my resolve to share the benefits of yoga with as many people as I could.
