Name: Larissa Fernandez
Role: Junior Facilitator
Larissa’s yoga journey began in 2010 when she attended her first Bikram Yoga class at the Myaree studio. From her first class she fell in love with the practice and the ability it had to release the stress of a busy job in the corporate world. It wasn’t until the studio became Power Living that she discovered Vinyasa but immediately fell in love with the practice. Within a year of practicing her first Vinyasa class, Larissa started her teacher training with Power Living and completed in June 2015. Since then Larissa has delved into full-time teaching and has enjoyed every moment of it.
Larissa completed her yoga teacher training in June 2015 with Power Living. She remembers the training as an amazing experience and hopes to continue expanding my training. She specialises in power vinyasa flow, building her classes around mobilising the spine as well as opening the hips – the two areas she believes we don’t move enough. Larissa’s classes are energetic and physically challenging but at the same time grounding you back down to the earth.
Getting to know the crew:
What is your favourite Asana posture? Why?
Ustrasana (Camel), Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel) any sort of backbend really. There are so many physical benefits to backbending but for me the greatest teachings are learning to trust my body and challenging the limits my mind creates.
If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
Here is our yoga timetable, we have classes twice a day seven days a week.
Yoga has made me…
more like me. Somehow along the way I think we forget how to be ourselves, happy and content without the pretences or masks we create. For me yoga is a process of undoing.
