Name: Kristy Hocking
Originally raised in the fresh air of Wiradjuri country, Kristy found yoga in her teens on the quest for healing. Following a career as an actor and presenter in the entertainment industry to Sydney and Los Angeles, Kristy’s practice developed from various teachings in both hemispheres. A graduate of Power Living, alongside on-going studies with Janet Stone, Patrick Beach, Rose Baudin, Dena Kingsberg and Carlos Pomeda, Kristy’s practice has spanned well over a decade. Continually expanding her awareness through art, adventuring and creative endeavors, Kristy’s style is playful and light, peppered with philosophy. You will work up a sweat flowing through invigorating sequences leading toward peak postures and create space with the “liquid-gold” tones of Kristy’s voice in more restorative classes.
When you are not extending, bending and sweating what do you like to do?
I love Lyra (aerial dance, very painful, very fun), riding my motorbike, adventuring, writing, reading, creating and talking to strangers.
When students walk out of my class I hope they feel…
Love. Whole. Balanced. Clear. Probably a little hungry and a lot sweaty. In all earnestness, just feeling whole-heartedly whatever they are feeling. Yoga is the most incredible tool I’ve encountered to tap into authenticity and getting clear with the true self.
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Stunt double! I’d be back in the yoga studio quick smart…
