Name: Johnson Chong
Johnson is the award-winning author of Sage Sapien: From Karma to Dharma and the recipient of the MindBody Visionary Award in 2018 and 2019. He’s also a meditation teacher on Ten Percent Happier and Insight Timer. He was the Director of Studio ANYA in NYC and also the Founder of Sagehouse in Singapore. Johnson has led training programs & workshops in Yoga, Pilates, Meditation and alternative healing modalities globally. With more than a decade of teaching, he has a strong base in somatic movement, functional rehab and athletic conditioning through his training in Applied Neo Yogic Awareness, Hatha, Kundalini, Vinyasa, Pilates, Gyrotonic, Core Align and various bodywork modalities.
Johnson started his yoga studies in 2004 in NYC and immediately benefited from the physical, mental and spiritual effects of the practice. He has studied with Courtney Bauer, Joschi Schwarz, Yogi Vishva, David Life, Sharon Gannon and Duncan Wong. Knowing that there are levels beyond the physical body for complete integrative healing, Johnson is also a Reiki Master in both the Usui and Osho Reiki lineage, an InnerGuidanceTM facilitator and a Four Winds Energy Medicine Practitioner. His studies of shamanic energy medicine with Dr Alberto Villoldo, Sandra Ingerman and Leantara Shah give him an in-depth look into how a client’s psychological and energetic imprints can manifest stress, anxiety, tension and disease in the physical.
When he is not teaching, he is coaching entrepreneurs how to breakthrough overwhelm, so that they can live their dream life while impacting the world for the better.
Share with us a life turning point and the favourite lesson learnt?
My toughest learning experience has been having to deal with the rejection from my parents and making the conscious choice to leave them to stand in my own power and my own truth. Yoga played a pivotal part in guiding me towards more strength, courage and resilience.
What turns you on?
What turns me on is confidence and courage to stand in the face of one’s own Truth, even in the face of standing as the lone wolf for a while.
When you are not extending, bending and sweating what do you like to do?
I run programs to help conscious entrepreneurs reconnect to self-love and breakthrough stress, anxiety and overwhelm using a variety of energy medicine and alternative healing modalities so that they can find a balance between their personal and professional lives. I also love to dance, meditate, and have meaningful conversations with anyone who is open to.
