Name: Kate Henry
Role: Facilitator

Kate Henry felt called to yoga for a long time before she made it her life. It was an unconscious thing at first… Then one day, though happy as far as she knew with the way her life was going, she told her husband Bobby that she wanted to move overseas and create a life where she could practice yoga every day. The words tumbled out of her mouth without warning and certainly before she was aware of what she was wishing for. Nevertheless, almost as soon as they were uttered, they began to come true. In a matter of months she quit a fun but hectic career in television production, said goodbye to family and friends and moved to Vancouver, Canada with Bobby.

Kate feels extremely grateful for the wonderful teachers including Meghan Currie, Mara Branscombe, Eoin Finn, Christine Price-Clark and Reno Muenz that awoke such a passion for movement in her and more grateful still, for their revealing all the beauty and the truth of the ancient teachings to her. What began as simply an exploration of form soon became a much deeper journey into the Self, under the guidance of her teachers and especially her most beloved teacher Suzanne Slocum-Gori.

Kate completed her 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate with Suzanne at One Yoga For The People in Vancouver, with a faculty that also included the ever-so-inspiring Ryan Leier and take-you-to-your-edge Noah Maze and a curriculum that drew from Suzanne’s vast experience and knowledge of Iyengar and Anusara yoga.
Kate arrived home to Australia and at Power Living in October 2014 and already her Power Living family is incredibly dear to her. She owes a debt of gratitude to Sol, Manoj, Cassie, Chris, Whitney, Brooke, Amy, Claire and all the crew for their kindness, support and encouragement.

In Kate’s childhood imaginings she pictured herself working in a healing environment when she grew up. She feels blessed now to have the opportunity to devote herself to creating a space for people to nurture and heal themselves. She is honoured to share her passion for yoga with the people who arrive on their mats in her class and grateful to every person who has breathed and moved with her.

Getting to know the crew:

What’s the best part of being in the PLAY community?
Growth is guaranteed. At P.L.A.Y I feel challenged and supported to step up. To be my best, my bravest and to be real. There’s fierce loving going on in between those walls.

What turns you on?
Rolling paddocks that give way to sparkling seas. Still, crisp morning air. Crunchy, autumn leaves. Handcrafted things. Old fashioned things. Home made pickles and jams. Rocking chairs. Thoughtful cards. Wide verandahs. Long, winding country roads. Music. Dancing. Loud, raucous dinners with family and friends. Riding my bike. Fresh snow. Campfires. Diving under big surf and popping out the other side. The taste of salt on skin after a day in the ocean. Rivers. Mountains. Forests. Idle days. Starry nights.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Chinese Medicine
