Name: Ryan Henson
I started practicing yoga when I was 15 years old. I started practicing because of the physical benefits of the practice, I stayed with it because of the quality of presence which I found within myself after each and every yoga practice. I completed my first yoga teacher training with Janine Leagh of HYA Yoga, and went on to train extensively (700 hours) with the Embodied Flow school of yoga, created by Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons. My classes usually include a strong focus on embodied/experiential anatomy explored and investigated within the shapes of the asana practice.
Getting to know the crew:
If heaven exists, what would you want God to say to you as you arrive at the pearly gates?
“We have a block of 85% dark chocolate and a small ¾ flat-white on almond milk waiting for you inside, welcome home son.”
What is your favourite yoga pose? Why?
Mountain pose (Tadasana), I love the simplicity of the pose, and yet there is so much to explore within the stillness of it. ‘How is my weight being transferred through the bones of my body?’ , ‘How can I release my organs to give me a better grounding here?’, etc.
Yoga has made me…
Respect the elegance of presence, the complexity of the human experience and the expansiveness of human potential.
