Our Teacher Training isn’t just for aspiring teachers, but for anyone who wants to deepen their personal practice and gain a better understanding of yoga philosophy and its origins. MODULE 1 – CORE PROGRAM

When: Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 April AND Thursday 2  – Sunday 5 May

Times: 7:30am – 5:30pm

MODULE 2 – RETREAT IMMERSION

When: Sunday 19 – Saturday 25 May

Times: Sunday 4pm (check in from 2pm) – Saturday 10am

Location: Bali Immersion Retreat

MODULE 3 – ASSISTING PROGRAM

When: Friday 14 – Sunday 16 June

Times: Friday 4:30pm – 8:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:30am – 4:30pm

Location: Power Living Adelaide Studio

REVIEW & FINAL EXAM DAY – Core Program Completion

When: Saturday 22 and 23 June

Times: 7:30am – 5:30pm

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Taking place over an intensive three-month study period, you’ll be part of a community of fellow students undergoing this journey of radical transformation. The nature of the program will demand your full commitment in and out of the classroom but rest assured, the intensity will be matched by experiences of joy, connection and lasting friendships as you discover your most powerful Self. Get ready to have the time of your life!

Module 1 – Laying the foundations

Core Program: 130hrs (100 contact hours)

This module introduces you to the foundations of Power Living’s teaching methodology and includes:

  • Asana physiology and alignment
  • Applied anatomy
  • Study of breath and bandhas
  • History of yoga
  • Traditional Yogic Philosophy and texts
  • Powerful and effective teaching skills
  • Class preparation techniques
  • Live coaching and feedback
  • Transformational leadership in the classroom

To graduate from the 200hr program you will be required to complete an essay on specific course content, a practical and a written assessment.

Module 2 – Retreat Immersion

One-week off-site retreat: 65hrs contact hours

The most powerful component of the program, this week long retreat will challenge your mind, body and spirit – facilitating the awakening required to become a truly powerful teacher.

The core of Power Living’s methodology lies in the practice of Svadyaya (self-study). This module is dedicated to uncovering deeply engrained beliefs, patterns and character traits that hold us back from living authentic and courageous lives. This work requires honesty, humility and a great commitment to your own spiritual growth.

Daily schedule includes meditation, yoga practice (Vinyasa and Yin), practice teaching, anatomy review, group sessions to uncover limiting core beliefs and inspiring community activities.

This week will leave you feeling strong, inspired and with a renewed passion for your life and practice.

Module 3 – Assisting Program

20 contact hours

Module three is dedicated to the art of assisting in the classroom and ties together all elements of the training to re ne presence
and skills. Focused on impacting our students through the power
of touch and connection, this module trains you to have a precise awareness of students’ unique bodies and how to safely guide them into deeper experiences on their mats.

The areas of study include:

  • Safe, effective assists for all postures in the vinyasa sequence
  • How to energetically interact with students
  • Working with different bodies, injuries and limitations
  • Developing the skill of global awareness in the classroom
Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the full course, you will receive a 200hr accreditation from Yoga Alliance (USA). This will allow you to apply to be a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance (USA) and obtain Provisional Membership with the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia (YTAA). Following registration with either body you will be able to obtain insurance covering you for yoga teaching. YTAA then requires you complete an extra 150 hours training with a certified training course within three years to obtain full membership with them. This extra 150 hours training can also be completed with Power Living.

MEET THE FACILITATORS

Duncan Peak

Duncan is the original pioneer of contemporary yoga in Australia and the Founder, Master Facilitator and CEO of Power Living. The teacher of teachers, Duncan is committed to raising the bar on the level of yoga facilitation across the country. He’s a passionate yogi, soul surfer and spiritual warrior.

With 14+ years of teaching experience behind him, Dunx continues to share his modern-day yoga philosophy with the community. He has an anatomy background in NeuroSpinology, has completed extensive traditional yoga studies with Georg Feuerstein and practiced Raja Yoga for nearly 20 years. Smashing the traditional yoga stereotypes, it’s Duncan’s creative vision and courageous spirit that has shaped what Power Living is today: one of Australia’s largest and most successful yoga communities.

Triton Tunis-Mitchell

Triton comes to yoga from a long history of body knowledge and practice. This includes over 30 years of training, performing and teaching acrobatics across Australia and the globe. Alongside this, Triton completed a Bachelor or Physiotherapy in 2004 and has spent more than 12 years as a musculoskeletal therapist, helping people both recover from injury and find their full physical potential. The physical and acrobatic nature of asana come naturally to Triton. However it is the meditative and philosophical aspects that have lifted his yoga practice from being merely another way to move, to being the practice that supports living a life that is bold, generous and meaningful. 

Triton’s yoga practice has been interwoven throughout his acrobatic training but kicked off formally with teacher training in 2012. Retraining more recently with Power Living lifted the lid on what yoga in a modern world can look like.

Tessa Leon

Community, education and creativity are the passions that orbit Tessa’s yoga practice. Yoga began for her as an undercurrent of self-study nearly 10 years ago, then after meeting the Power Living crew, yoga took centre stage in her life as a way to affect positive change. As a co-owner and leader of the vibrant Adelaide studio, her commitment is to shine brighter light onto everyday life through conscious awareness.

Before yoga took centre stage, Tessa spent 15 years as an award-winning writer and performing artist, travelling to festivals around Australia and the world. Her artistry is still expressed now through the poetry of teaching and sharing learnt experience.

Over the past decade she’s completed 200hrs training in Hatha yoga, 200hrs in Vinyasa, as well as advanced certifications in yin, yoga philosophy, assisting, and meditation. She’s currently diving into an 800hr training in yoga literature and history, which continues to fuel her lifelong love of language.
