A much-loved member of the Power Living crew, Troy’s teaching style is powerful and he empower’s his students to use yoga as a tool to discover the most connected version of themselves. Originally, Troy came to yoga to complement surfing and snowboarding and his commitment is to guiding the practice in a way that adds to an incredible life experience, rather than just a strong yoga practice. Duncan began practicing Ashtanga yoga when he was 16 years old and has been teaching Vinyasa yoga in Canada since 2007. He attended University of Guelph for Biomedical Sciences and later transferred to Ryerson University in Toronto to pursue his love of dance in their competitive BFA Performance Dance program. With a mind for science and a love for movement, Duncan teaches intelligent and alignment based vinyasa classes that are sequenced with mindful creativity.
He has facilitated several 200hr and 500hr Vinyasa YTT courses, and runs retreats and intensives internationally. He continues to train and practice under his teacher Annie Carpenter, creator of SmartFlow Yoga.
2008 was when Leigh’s interest in yoga shifted towards dedication. He was not only building strength and finding relief from the stresses of running his own business, but also opening up to the idea of living a purposeful life. He has completed Level 1 and 2 trainings with Baron Baptiste and received his 200hr Teacher Training Certification with PLAY in 2011. His love of the physical practice and passion for alignment drew him to study with teachers such as Noah Maze, Ross Rayburn, John Friend and Tara Judelle, while his creativity and fun-loving nature resonated with Les Leventhal’s Sequence Training and Shiva Rea’s Fluid Power Training with Simon Park.
While working towards his 500hr RYT with Power Living and Tiffany Cruikshank he has completed a 80hr Yoga Therapy Training and 60hr Insight Yoga Yin & Mindfulness Teacher Training with Sarah Powers and is currently undertaking a 250 hour Traditional Yoga Studies course on yoga history and philosophy.
Yoga has found Ruby at different stages throughout her life, like an old friend returning again and again to provide comfort and help her to uncover this magical life. As a child, Ruby remembers flicking through her parents yoga books and being fascinated with the shapes and angles of the bodies. Then, as a young teenager Ruby’s Mum dragged her to her first yoga class at the local school hall, which she secretly loved but resisted with great force! Yoga returned to Ruby during her dance studies at university, when she finally accepted it into her life with open arms.
Ruby completed her Teacher Training with Power Living in 2014 and is passionate about intelligent alignment and uncovering our true nature: the unity between body, mind and soul. Since 2014, Ruby has continued her studies with Power Living and has learnt from Rod Stryker, Ana Forrest and Sarah Powers. She teaches from a joyful heart, combining her creative energy and playful nature.
