200HR Hybrid Yoga Teacher Training

28 Jul 200HR Hybrid Yoga Teacher Training

Power Living’s next round of 200HR Teacher Training is set to start February 2024. We sat down with one of our teachers, Krista Orbe, and our Training & Development Manager Martin Coles, to shine a light on these Online & Hybrid programs from the perspective of both student and trainer.

The 200HR Hybrid program is essentially a combination of flexible online learning that allows students to dive in and absorb the content in their own time, paired with in-person training days that help bring it all to life.

Far from a dry online course, the interactivity between students and facilitators, coupled with a user-friendly platform full of lectures and teaching guides, the 200HR learning journey has in many ways improved by adding an online element.

Marty’s role is largely focused on, as it would suggest, training and developing teachers. We asked him to explain what he has noticed since Power Living transitioned to offering many of our education programs online.

The most impactful change has come from student’s ability to access a wealth of content online before the in-person training commences. “The amount of information they absorb and have access to with the in-person course is actually far more than the previous face-to-face training. In many ways, these new teachers are coming out of these programs with an even richer level of knowledge.”

Krista recently completed the 200HR Hybrid training and is now teaching at our studios! She loved the ability to pause, rewind, and review the online content. Krista explains, “The teaching delivery platform was really user-friendly and easy to navigate while going at my own pace. As a single mama, it was really handy that I could work my learning into my schedule in such a flexible way.”

Marty agrees that this has made a noticeable difference in student’s confidence. He was so impressed in the first round of Hybrid training. “They came in hot!” He says, “There was such a significant amount of learning that happened ahead of those first in-person days.” For Krista, the highlight of the in-person component was bonding with the other students through practice teaching and receiving coaching from the facilitators: “The coaching was absolute gold – they gave me actionable feedback that I could use straightway during our many opportunities to practice teaching.”

Marty concedes the most potent part of the in-person days is the chance for students to practice teaching and bring everything they’ve learned to life. The chance to start working on this skill in a supportive environment can spark further questions and enquiries that enrich the whole learning experience.

The In-Person program gives the best of in-person and online training in a structured 12-week period. However, if the 100% Online program suits a student better, there are still many opportunities to do in-person coaching down the road. All graduates have access to further in-person training.

The aim of these programs is to develop competent teachers that are ready to teach and share this beautiful practice! The 200HR learning journey is designed in such a way that upon completing either program, you can safely and effectively guide someone through a well rounded yoga experience.

Krista’s biggest takeaway has been the joy of teaching! “I absolutely LOVE teaching yoga! It’s such a rewarding thing to be able to share this practice with others and spread the love.”

Marty concludes, “We are seeing exceptional teachers coming out of both programs, ready to teach. This is showing us that the delivery of our training programs online has been successful and valuable.”

If you’re ready to dive in and share your love of yoga, you can sign up for either program here.
