40 Days to Personal Revolution

Originally created by Duncan Peak with permission from Baron Baptiste this program is designed to completely recondition your way of life. It is not a strict, dogmatic, disciplined regime that offers step by step instructions but rather a chance to creatively use your intuition and integrate many facets of Yoga into your daily life.

The program is run for just under 6-weeks starting on a Monday and finishing with triumphant festivities on a Friday night. The 40-Days are a progressive program that leads you deep into a basic Yogic way of life. It is intensive with each week going deeper into areas of our lives and giving many opportunities for growth and personal transformation.

There are 5 areas that the program will cover although you may find that many other areas of your life are brought into the spotlight. The 5 main areas you will experience are:

  • Going deep into your Power Yoga practice
  • Experiencing the commitment to a daily Power-full Meditation practice
  • Awareness and creation of a Power-full Nutritional diet that suits you
  • Weekly introspection and understanding of our relationships to ourselves and our connection to the Universe
  • Our belonging to a community free of judgment and full of love

Community Meeting - Duncan and/or Keenan will be completing the 40-Days with you and lead the group discussions held every Monday night at 7:45pm. These discussions are not compulsory but you are invited to attend and share your experiences or just simply listen to the experiences of others. In past programs this has been one of the most valuable experiences for many students completing the course.

Each day you complete your meditation, studio or home practice and mark it on the board in the studio using the following symbols. The basic requirements of the course are:

Studio Practice (SP) - Each week you will be asked to complete 5 studio Power Yoga practices at times that suit you. After completing a studio practice you write the letters SP in the box of the day it refers to.

Home Practice (HP) - Each week you will be asked to complete 1 home practice either following the practice set out in the book or creatively designing your own flow at home. The next day you come into the studio after completing a home practice you write the letters HP in the box for the day it refers to.

Rest Day ( J ) - Simply mark your favourite symbol on the board on your next day in the studio.

Meditations - Each day you will be asked to complete 2 meditations.
For each day you complete a meditation, you write M1or M2 for how many meditations you completed on the corresponding day. Each weekly meditation is given in the text for you to follow.

Diet - You will use Baron’s book as a guide to designing a whole food diet suitable for your own personal needs. In week 4 we complete a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse the body as a gentle de-tox. This is not just a physical cleanse, you will notice a great shift in your mental perception of the quantity of food your body requires. During the fasting period you may like to take a home practice and day off or practice lighter in class to conserve energy.  You are not required to mark on the board if you have followed your diet.

Personal Journal - You are asked to keep your own journal during the 40 Days and answer the excavation questions in the book at the end of each week. These questions are to remain private unless you wish to share them and are simply thought starters for great introspection.

Each week staff members are available to talk about your experience and offer guidance if sought. There is also the community group participating in the 40-Days who are very supportive and enjoy the opportunity to share the challenges and triumphs you will experience.

We ask that you are honest about your progression. This challenge is very difficult and not everyone will be able to complete all requirements.  The most important thing is that you show up and give it a go. Should you miss a practice or don’t do a meditation we ask that you don’t give up but rather continue the 40-Days with the acceptance of ourselves and the openness to get out of it whatever needs to travel our way.
